The Magic

The Magic

The musicians and I laugh before the concert. Greeting each other with hugs and warm wishes. The dialogue “hey brother, how have you been” by one. Another, “it is always a pleasure playing with these cats. This one (drummer) is my right hand and this one (bassist) is my left” said by the pianist.  The host announces the band. I look back at the cats and count off the tune a blues. 1…2…1, 2, 3, 4 then the bassist says WAIT as he fixes his cord. There is no ill vibe. We all smile and the pianist cracks a joke “fire the bassist”. The tempo stays in my head. The bassist fixes the problem and motions to the audience that he is ready. They laugh and I count off the tune. 1…2…1, 2, 3, 4 and the music starts. The vibe grows and thickens through out the night. By the last tune, the audience is begging for more. The music had that thing…that vibe…that magic. You feel it when all the stars line up and there is nothing but love inspiring the music. Whenever it happens, it is magical.

This magic exist in all aspects of life. When human beings are at their best, they create beauty. You can feel the vibration captivate and guide you. Human celebrations are powerful. If a non religious person walks into a church when the congregation is experiencing the holy ghost, they might not understand but they feel the energy of all the believers. When that spirit grabs them, they might just make a joyful noise. This can be experienced in any other ritualistic celebration of spirit.

The power of collective consciousness can also be experienced in a rally or protest. You can be in a group of common believers and feel invincible. Inspiration has caused people to do amazing things. The magic is always present. Our motivation creates positive or negative outcomes.

What kind of magician would you like to be? You can be one that loves, inspires and creates or one that doesn’t. The magic is always within you and me. Let us build a community of invincible, loving magicians.

I wish you love, light and wealth. DREAM BIG…LOVE HARD

  1. I know this to be true, especially in the religious chants of our African ancestors that we use today, it connects us to the motherland regardless of whether we have stepped foot upon it, it transcends the physical and connects us with them in the spiritual realm, I’ve always felt this, but never understood it until someone explained this to me about the music of African & African Americans. We have lost much of our traditions, but that is one thing that remains. This music was instrumental during The Civil Rights Movement, Black Power Movements and any other protests, as you mentioned. That is what helped many endure the torture and harsh treatment. I create magic with the poetry verses that inspire and tell the Truth about Humanity. Thanks for sharing.
